Determination of the Michaelis constant

Product No: P1369860

Principle

The enzymatic hydrolysis of urea in an aquous solution yields carbon dioxide and ammonia. The ions of
these compounds increase the conductivity of the solution. The speed of urea hydrolysis, which is
caused by the urease enzyme, can be determined via conductivity measurements at different substrate
concentration levels. The resulting values can then be used for the calculation of the Michaelis constant.
