Students will construct various different motor designs using the motor model kit. Using a bar magnet on the model turns it into a DC motor with a direction of rotation dependent on the direction of the current. If an electromagnet is used for the stator field, as seen here, the direction of rotation does not depend on the current direction. The motor can run on DC or AC.
