How is it possible, that the fuel / air mixture of a spark
ignition engine can be ignited by a voltage of up to 30,000 V, but
the car battery only supplies 12 V? We will get to the bottom of
this phenomenon in this experiment. When the magnetic field in a
coil changes, the coil induces a voltage that always opposes the
cause of the change in the magnetic field. This phenomenon is
called self-induction. The following experiment is the first on
this "self-induction" theme and here we will qualitatively examine
self-induction both on the switching on and the switching off of a
circuit.
