Solar cells play an important role in the use of alternative
energy sources, since they convert the sun's solar radiation
directly into electrical energy. The electrical energy generated is
demonstrated very clearly in this experiment by the use of a small
motor. A filament lamp suffices as a light source.
Shine a light onto a solar cell and observe the motor connected
to it.
