Function and Applications

Set-up unit consisting of: transparent case with contact plates, contact spring and iron core. The base plate serves as a control path during conductivity experiments and to represent heat released by electric current. A simple two way switch can be set up using the contact spring. The iron core can be used by the pupil to build an electromagnet which can be introduced into the two way switch, thus obtaining a magnetically controlled two way switch, that is, a relay.
