Principle

In this experiment, the students should explore the concept of acceleration by using uniformly accelerated motion as an example, and recognize the laws of the motion with aid of diagrams. By comparing the slopes obtained from s/t2 and the v-t diagram, the proportionality factor k in the equation kt2 can be determined to be approximately a/2. Thus, a better understanding of the equation = 1/2at2 can be reached.

Task

What laws govern uniformly accelerated motion?

A car moves along a track under the influence of the weight (force) of a mass. Record the course of the motion with a recording timer and recording tape and investigate the corresponding path-time and velocity-time diagram.
