Principle

The students use two cars joined under spring pressure to investigate impulse. When the cars are released from each other, they should examine how the impulse is distributed onto each of them and whether the total impulse (zero) is conserved.

To do this, the students should register the course of motion using a recording timer and recording tape. Different combinations of masses loaded onto the cars are examined. In each case, the cars' impulses are calculated and compared.

Task

What does the term "impulse" mean to you?

Two cars are connected to each other by spring pressure. Break the connection and register the course of motion of both cars with a recording timer and recording tape. Investigate the influence of various masses on the motion of the cars.
