Investigation of the natural oscillation of columns of air

If one blows across the openings of tubes closed at one end, e.g. test tubes,a characteristic tone is heard. This tone is registered with the aid of a microphone and the frequency of the oscillation is indicated. From this thelength of the tube can be calculated.
