Determination of the Michaelis constant with the Basic-Unit

The enzymatic hydrolysis of urea inaqueous solution liberates carbon dioxide and ammonia. The ions of these compounds increase the conductivity of thesolution. Conductivity measurements canso be made to determine the rate of hydrolysis of urea by the enzyme urease atvarious substrate concentrations. TheMichaelis constant can then be calculated from these values.
