Helical spring pendulum

Principle

In this experiment observations are to be made on a spring pendulum which consists of a helical spring
with a spring constant D and a mass m which is hung on it. When the pendulum is displaced by smax and
let go of, it swings across its rest position with an oscillation period T. The dependence of the oscillation
period on the spring constant D, the mass m and the displacement smax is to be examined in this experiment.

Tasks

  • Determine the dependence of the oscillation period T of a spring pendulum on the displacement
    smax
  • Determine the dependence of T on the mass m hung on the spring.
  • Determine the dependence of T on the spring constant D.
