- The ballistic unit- For demonstrating projectile motionand for quantitative investigation ofthe laws of projection, in particularfor determining the range of a projectile as a function of the projectileangle and the initial velocity of theprojectile. The catapult included inthe extent of delivery can be used to:- achieve reproducible projectile rangesup to 3 m (scatter of the projectileranges approx. 1%)- set a continuously variable projectionangle between 0° and 90°- to select three projection speeds- use two balls with different massesbut with the same diameter-The ballistic pendulum-To determine the velocities of projectiles. This additional unit can be usedto- verify the energy principle and theprinciple of linear momentum- show the difference between elasticand inelastic collision- determine the speed of the ball- alter the pendulum mass and therebythe pendulum centre of gravity usingthe additional weights supplied.-The projectile unit consists of a framed and painted metal plate with antiskidadjustable feet and a hinged angle scaleon which the catapult can be easilymounted for projectile experiments. Withthe aid of a tension lever, three different pitches (three projectile velocities) can be set for the spring catapultand released manually via a pull lever.The balls (iron balls and a wooden ballwith an iron core) are held in place bya magnetic holder. The projectile velocities can be determined directly usingthe recommended velocity measuringattachment 11229.30. The landing pointsfor determining the projectile range aremarked with the aid of a recording strip11221.01.-The ballistic pendulum consists of apendulum rod with trailing pointer, conic weight with knurled screw for ejecting the trapped ball. When not in use,the pendulum can be fixed to the rear ofthe ballistic unit.
