Principle

The pupils should observe and be able to explain that magnets lying next to each other produce a stronger effect than an identical, single magnet when the two magnets are so positioned that identical poles face one another; when the magnets are arranged so that opposite poles face each other, the effect of the two magnets is smaller than a single, identical magnet.

Benefits

Quick and easy experiment for qualitatively understanding of magnetic phenomena

Tasks

To investigate how the magnetic effect on an iron object is changed when a second magnet is placed next to a magnet.
