Principle

In this experiment students examine various solution for their electrical conductivity. They observe that some solids (dissolved in water) are conductible while other solutions do not conduct the current. The students conclude that the electrical conductivity depends on the material and the conductivity of aqueous salt solutions is a typical feature of salts. In addition, students observe that the conductivity depends also on the amount of dissolved salt. For low concentrations, the conductivity is directly proportional to the dissolved quantity.
