Principle

In this experiment, the properties of graphite powder and diamond are examined and compared. The experiments show that graphite, diamond and coal are very different from the external impression, and are used in very different industrial fields. In chemical reactions it is shown, however, that they are only the different modifications of one and the same element. Furthermore the occurrence and the properties of the carbon oxides and the carbonic acid are presented and the connections with the example calcium carbonate and water hardness are explained.

Benefits

  • Experimental literature available for pupils and teachers: Minimum preparation time
  • Hazard assessment for pupils and teachers available
  • Easy teaching and efficient learning using the available interactive experiment literature
