Burnt lime

Article no: P7156300
Principle

To "heavy" soils are often added ammonia fertilizer . Burnt lime loosens up and neutralized such soils and accelerates the decomposition of ammonia fertilizer and promotes plant growth. In this experiment students examine the effect of adding quicklime to ammonia fertilizers. The release of ammonia in the soil affects due to the rapid conversion of ammonia into nitrate by soil bacteria  and has so an accelerating effect on the decomposition of the ammonia fertilizers.
