General safety precautions to be taken when handling acids

Article no: P7157000
Principle

Concentrated acids decompose natural substances and are highly corrosive (e.g. in contact with metalls). When handling with acids safety precautions must be maintained. In this experiment students examine the effect of concentrated acids in contact with meat, paper and other materials. Students learn which protective measures  they have to observe when handling with concentrated acids.

Learning objectives

  • Properties of concentrated acids
  • Safety precautions for working with acids

Benefits

  • Easy teaching and efficient learning by using interactive experimentation PHYWE-Software
  •  Experiment is part of a complete solution set with experiments for the topic acids, alkalis and salts matched with international curriculum: all topics are covered
