Germination and light

Principle

The germination of many plants seeds is not affected by light. Some seeds, however, can only germinate if they are exposed in their swollen condition for some length of time to light, while the germination of others is prevented by exposure to light. Hence we sometimes speak of "light germinators" and "dark germinators".
