Principle

Measurement of the dependence of photosynthesis performance on brightness by counting the number of oxygen bubbles secreted by an aquatic plant.

Tasks

  1. study of the dependence of photosynthetic activity by using the bubble counting method in an aquatic plant
  2. investigation of the influence of the carbon dioxide content of water on the photosynthesis rate

Learning Objectives

Students should recognise that the rate of photosynthesis depends on light intensity. To demonstrate this, the oxygen bubble counting method is used and learners are familiarised with digital measurement recording for light measurement. Students also recognise that the carbon dioxide content has an influence on the rate of photosynthesis.
