Franck-Hertz Hg-tube

Article no: 09105-10

Function and Application

The Hg tube on the plate is used for recording the Franck–Hertz curve. It is a replaceable high-vacuum tube filled with mercury, which evaporates when the tube is heated in a heating oven.

Benefits

  • Plane-parallel electrode system to avoid field distortions
  • Indirectly heated oxide cathode with long service life
  • Easy connection via a multi-connector for fast experimental setup
  • Simple automated experiment execution using the power supply unit (09106-99) and software
  • Clear visualization of the setup via the circuit diagram printed on the housing

Technical Specification

  • Heater: 0–7 V, max. 150 mA
  • Grid voltage: 0–60 V
  • Retarding voltage: 0–3 V
  • Operating temperature: (175 ± 10) °C
  • Tube dimensions (mm): l = 130, d = 28
