Falling ball viscometer ![]() Function and Applications For the precise measurement of the viscosity of transparent Newtonian liquids in combination with a circulation thermostat. The fall time of a ball with density r₁ in the test liquid with density r₂ is measured while it moves through an inclined cylindrical fall tube. From this fall time and a constant K taken from the apparatus table, the dynamic viscosity η is determined. Benefits - All-in-one solution: supplied ready for use including ball set, thermometer, calibration certificate and cleaning tools.
- Standards-compliant: conforms to DIN 53015 and ISO 12058.
- Wide measuring range: approx. 0.6 mPa·s to > 50,000 mPa·s using interchangeable balls.
- Precise temperature control: integrated temperature jacket, measurements possible from –20 … +150 °C.
- Closed measuring system: prevents evaporation, air ingress and skin formation.
- High reproducibility: defined measuring position (10°) and excellent repeatability and comparability.
- Easy operation: ball return by tilting, no disassembly required.
- Maintenance- and cleaning-friendly: cleaning tools included, replaceable fall tube and jacket tube.
