Electron diffraction tube

Article no: 06721-02

Function and Application

The electron diffraction tube enables the demonstration of the wave nature of electrons by observing interference patterns that become visible on the fluorescent screen after passing through a polycrystalline graphite lattice.
The electron wavelengths can be determined as a function of the anode voltage using the diffraction rings and the lattice plane spacings of graphite, thereby experimentally confirming de Broglie’s hypothesis.

Benefits

  • Highly evacuated tube for precise and reproducible experiments
  • Direct observation of Debye–Scherrer diffraction on the fluorescent screen
  • Precise control of the high voltage using a compatible power supply (06721-04)

Technical Specification

  • Heater voltage: 6.3 V AC
  • Max. anode voltage: 5000 V
  • Anode current: approx. 0.1 mA at 4000 V
  • Graphite lattice constants: d₁₀ = 0.213 nm, d₁₁ = 0.123 nm
