Millikan Device Digital for Windows & USB

Article no: 09070-00D
Function and Application

Millikan Apparatus for Determining the Elementary Charge

The Millikan apparatus enables the precise experimental determination of the elementary charge e of electrons. Finely atomized oil droplets are introduced into an electric field and brought into a state of suspension. By analyzing the forces acting on the droplets, the charge of individual droplets — and therefore the elementary charge — can be accurately determined.

The experimental setup provides a clear and practical implementation of one of the most important experiments in physics and is ideally suited for teaching, training, and laboratory education.

Digital Extension Including Eyepiece Camera

In addition to the classic eyepiece, which is already pre-mounted upon delivery, the scope of delivery also includes an eyepiece camera with USB connection.

This camera can simply be exchanged with the standard eyepiece and enables full digitalization of the experiment:

  • Live transmission of the oil droplets and scale to Windows computers.
  • Shared observation in the classroom or lecture hall.
  • This makes the classic experiment flexible, expandable, and suitable for modern teaching environments.

Benefits

  • Easy handling thanks to a clearly structured experimental setup
  • Direct visualization of the forces acting on oil droplets for illustrative learning
  • Digital extension using an interchangeable USB eyepiece camera
  • Live display and evaluation on external devices possible
  • Compatible with standardized power supplies and measuring instruments
  • Ideal for teaching, demonstration, and laboratory exercises
