Function and Applications

The extensive experiment system enables you to reconstruct and understand the whole biomass cycle without any additional equipment. A cultivation box and hydroculture allow the observation of the sprouting and growth of plants. Thereby the water and nutrient consumption can be analyzed in the different growth phases. Different experiments then show the aerobic as well as the anaerobic degradation of the biomass in a compost or biogas processes. Thus allows the exploration of the energetic use of biomass.

Benefits

  • Up-to-date topic related to renewable energies: biomass production, biomass degradation and use of biomass as a source of energy
  • Topics: plant growth + nutrients + generation of biomass + degradation of biomass + aerobic and anaerobic processes
  • Complete set, no additional components required
  • Can be used everywhere as all components are included in transport case

Equipment and Technical Data

The following experiments can be performed:

  • Germination of plant seeds
  • Plant growth in a hydroculture
  • Consumption of water and nutrients
  • Aerobic degradation of biomass in a compost
  • Anaerobic degradation of biomass to form hydrogen
  • Anaerobic degradation of biomass to form methane

Scope of delivery in two transport cases (dimensions: 64 x 37 x 17 cm each) so that no additional accessories are required:

  • Plant light
  • Measurement modules to measure the energy generated (hydrogen, methane)
  • Composter
  • Gas-collecting container
  • Temperature logger
  • Balance
  • Diverse glassware and containers
  • Stand material
  • Additional auxiliary material
  • Download instructions for detailed manual for students and instructors
