Magnetic and non-magnetic substances

Article no: P1085600

Principle

The students should understand that objects, which are made of iron − or, at least, contain iron − are attracted by a magnet. They should further become aware that both poles of a magnet are identical in their effects on iron objects.

Benefits

Quick and easy experiment for qualitatively understanding of magnetic phenomena

Tasks

Which materials are attracted by a magnet? Test various objects of different materials to see whether they are attracted by a magnet or not. Furthermore, test if the two ends of the magnet (each identified by colour) act in the same way on these objects.

Scope of delivery

Magnet, d=8 mm, l=60 mm 06317-00 1
