Thermal expansion of air and water

Article no: P9170200

Principle

In this experiment, the students observe the thermal expansion of air and water. They examine water columns in two capillary tubes. One of the glasses is filled mostly with water, the other mostly with air. The students find that water and air both expand when heated, but that this expansion is different. The rise (expansion) of air is much greater.
