Oxidation of metals

Article no: P7153000
Principle

Many metalls are still used for technical applications today. A disadvantage is that metals (when heated in air) undergo chemical and physical changes. But not all metals undergo these changes, means that metals differ in their reactivity to heating in air. While for some metals these changes occur, no changes are observed for other metals. In this experiment different metals are heated in air and the chemical and physical changes are observed.

What you can learn about

  • Oxidation of metals
  • Many metals oxidize (rust) in air
