Constituents of polymers (2): The detection of polymer constitents/the Beilstein test

Article no: P7180100

Principle
Polymers decompose when heated. In decomposition products of some plastics the presence of carbon and hydrogen,
in addition to oxygen and chlorine, can be detected. Water is detected with copper sulphate and chloride by means of the Beilstein test.

Benefits

  • Easy teaching and efficient learning by using interactive experimentation PHYWE-Software
  • Experiment is part of a complete solution set with experiments for the topic Chemistry of Polymers matched with international curriculum: all topics are covered
