Unknown Principle

Hydrochloric acid, which belongs to the group of strong acides,  can be obtained from common salt. During this process hydrogen chloride gases are released. The presence of hydrogen chloride (in a solution) can be indicated with the aid of silver nitrate. In this experiment students prepare hydrochloric acid on the basis of common salt (sodium chloride) and study its properties.
