Fine beam tube

Article no. 06959-00 | Type: Equipment & Accessories

Teachers/Professors, Students

Function and Application

The fine beam tube allows the visualization of electron beams in an evacuated glass bulb, which fluoresce due to neon gas.
It is mainly used in combination with a pair of Helmholtz coils in secondary and higher education to clearly demonstrate the deflection of electrons in magnetic fields and the specific charge e/m of the electron.

Benefits

  • Fluorescent distance markers allow parallax-free and accurate determination of the circular diameter of the electron beam
  • Plastic end caps ensure secure mounting, and 4 mm connection sockets with wiring diagram enable simple and safe experimental setup
  • Robust and durable design for repeated use in teaching and laboratory environments

Technical Specification

  • Glass bulb filled with neon gas
  • Electron gun
  • Heater voltage: 6.3 V / 0.5 A
  • Anode / cathode voltage: 150 V / −50 V
