Principle

The connection of several galvanic cells, e.g. Daniell cells, in series results in an increase in the electric voltage. The increased voltage corresponds to the sum of the voltages of the individual cells. There is no increase in voltage when such cells are connected in parallel.

Learning objectives

  • how to increase the efficiency of a galvanic cell by connecting Daniell cells together in series and in parallel

Benefits

  • Easy teaching and efficient learning by using interactive experimentation PHYWE-Software
  • Experiment is part of a complete solution set with experiments for the topic Electrochemistry matched with international curriculum: all topics are covered
