Principle
Hooke's law states that the deformation of an elastic body is proportional to the applied force. It only applies within the elastic range, meaning as long as the material returns to its original shape after the load is removed.
Tasks
- Measure the force on a spring with increasing load and determine the respective deflection.
- check whether there is a correlation between load and deflection for two different springs.
Learning objectives
The students should understand the statement of Hooke's law, i.e. the proportionality between force and deflection of a coil spring.
Benefits
- Especially understandable and didactically prepared description of the experiment (relevance to everyday life, etc.) including protocol questions.
- Future-oriented teaching: Integration of sensors (Cobra SMARTsense) into digital science education with the measureAPP.
- Increased motivation of students by using the intuitive measureAPP increased media competence.
