Principle

A simple circuit with a light bulb is set up. The voltage across the bulb is measured at different supply voltages. Afterwards, the voltage is measured in series with the bulb to clearly demonstrate that voltage must always be measured in parallel.

Tasks

  1. Set up the circuit according to the circuit diagram.
  2. Connect the Cobra SMARTsense Voltage Sensor to the measureAPP and measure the voltage across the bulb.
  3. Repeat the measurement at different voltages and then in a series connection to observe the change in voltage.

Learning objective

Students learn how to measure voltage correctly and understand that the measured value may differ from the supply voltage.
