Principle

In this experiment, the behavior of the alkali metals in the air as well as the flame coloring during their combustion are investigated.
The reaction products are dissolved in water, the pH being estimated using the phenolphtalein indicator.
Finally, the electrical conductivity of the alkali metals is investigated.
