Principle
The entry to this theme should be the damage to health caused by alcohol. Methanol can be detected with Schiff's reagent after oxidizing it to formaldehyde. Fruit brandies contain small amounts of methanol, in contrast to other spirits. Spirits which have a high methanol content are hazardous to health. Methanol is detected in alcoholic drinks.
