Function and Applications

The LAB2 electric burner is an electric laboratory heating device for heating samples, and a safe alternative to the Bunsen burner. Instead of an open flame, the device generates a column of hot air and is suitable for heating samples in:

Test tubes
Flat-bottomed vessels (e.g., Erlenmeyer flasks, beakers)
Round-bottom flasks (using a suitable holder)

The target temperature is set with a rotary control and can be selected in seven steps from 70 °C to 650 °C. The device has a red operating status indicator and a green temperature indicator, which goes out as soon as the set temperature is reached.

Benefits

No open flame and no fuel gas: Heating is provided by an electrically generated column of hot air, which eliminates all hazards associated with gas installations, gas leaks, and delayed ignition.
Simple and safe operation: The temperature is set in defined steps using a rotary control. There is no need for extensive training in the ignition sequence of a gas burner.
Protected housing: The protective housing does not become hot during operation, and the heating elements are enclosed and not freely accessible.
Even heating without spattering: Test tubes are guided to the center, and the column of hot air extends along the entire length of the test tube, which reduces the risk of spattering.
Reduced fire risk: The device is switched off by simply turning the control back, with no need to handle a gas tap or igniter.
Advantage over conventional burners: In the temperature range typical for schools, the LAB2 delivers comparable heating results with significantly reduced hazards and installation effort. An open demonstration flame can also be produced using ECOFLAM tablets.
